endurance.
Endurance. That’s the word that keeps echoing in my head these days. Because that’s what we need to keep going.
There now exists a collective intention to do better.
To make real progress.
To dismantle white supremacy and every system & structure that has upheld it.
To actively practice anti-racism every. dang. day.
To have the hard and necessary conversations.
To make the phone calls, send the emails, sign the petitions.
To read the books, watch the videos, listen to the podcasts.
To learn what our roles are in the fight for racial justice, and how to more fully step into those roles.
There remains much more to that mentioned above, and to it all, I find myself retuning to Cleo Wade’s words:
“I was tired of feeling intimidated by what I should do
so I pulled up my sleeves
and
got to work on what I could do.
I was tired of not knowing, so I found out—about myself, my family, my ancestors, my government, and the struggles of others.
...
I was tired of looking at the world as one big mess, so I decided to start cleaning up
and when people ask me if I’m exhausted, I tell them no
because more than anything, what I got most tired of is being tired” -Cleo Wade.
It’s a long road we’re on. and though there’s been smatterings of hope, light and great changes happening, we’ve got to tap into mental and emotional endurance to keep going.
Here are some resources I hope can help in your learnings, un-learnings and actions to take as they’ve been guiding me.
